GMCL U14 168/8 v Palace Shield U14 96ao, GMCL Win by 72 runs at Greenmount CC
The GMCL won the toss and elected to bat. After a good start the team lost regular wickets and scored a competitive 168, Joe Aston (36), Daniel Stock(28) and Evan Williams(28*) all contributing. The Palace Shiled were blown away by a devasting spell of fast bowling from Callum Hunter (4 for 9) which left them struggling on 20 for 6. Ismail Afzar and Will Potts contributed with wickets as the Palace Shield were bowled out for 96.
GMCL U14 198/8 v Bolton League U14 42-0, Match Drawn at Bury CC
The GMCL won the toss and elected to bat. Another ok batting performance saw lots of lads get starts but not go on. The Bolton spinners bowled very tightly to restrict GMCL to a slightly under par score of 198 at Bury CC, Evan Willliams (32), Nathan Walker (31) and Kartik Joshi (29) were the main contributors. The Bolton League started well reaching 42 for 0 in the 9th over before the rain came and came heavy. The game could not continue and was ruled a draw.
GMCL U14 121/8 v Liverpool Competition U14 120/8, GMCL Win by 2 wickets at Monton CC
The Liverpool Comp won the toss and elected to bat. A very good bowling and fielding display saw the Liverpool Competition restricted to 120/8 off 35 overs. A good opening spell form Sofyaan Ali (7 overs 1 for 12), was backed up by the spinners Will Potts (7 overs 2 for 31) and Mubashar Zeer (7 overs 3 for 24). The GMCL were looking very comfortable at 99/2 after 21 overs. Daniel Stock (60) was caught and a mini collapse saw the team lose 5 wickets for just 15 runs. Mubashar Zeer and Jacob Rimmer steadied the ship and saw the team home by two wickets and into the Inter League final to be held in August.
