Week 14 - 17 July 2021

Prestwich blew away former leaders Clifton to return to the Prem summit as the title race remains wide open going into the final third of the season.

Sub pro Sachithra Serasinghe (72) was well supported by Jack Doyle (56) as the home side posted 278-7 from their 50 overs in the Prestwich sun. Nathan Bailey's opening spell did most of the damage in the second innings, taking 6/42 in 12 overs as Clifton were bowled out for 68 inside 25 overs.

Flixton picked up an important 5 points in an enthralling game at home to Woodbank. A last wicket partnership between Stephen Holt and Subtain Raza Shah worth 38 pulled Woodbank upto 105 all out after Kamran Basharat and Saqar Trivedi had ripped through the top and middle order. The run chase was far from straight forward, and ultimately it was again the last wicket partnership that proved to be crucial, with Basharat finishing on 22* to see Flixton over the line by 1 wicket.

Astley & Tyldesley won for the 4th time this season with a 74 run win over Glodwick. Chathura de Silva (98) and Marcus Stables (51) both passed 50 in A&T's 265 - Muhammad Mohsin (5/65) and Imran Asghar (4/54) with the wickets. Glodwick started well and reached 113-1, largely thanks to Mohsin's 85 but James Cutt (5/47) and James Park Johnson (4/59) ensured Glodwick ultimately fell well short of the target, all out for 191.

Egerton overcame Heyside in a low scoring game at Blackburn Road to close to within 4 points of their opponents in mid table. Egerton were bowled out for 137 with more than 11 overs left - 3 wickets each for Tom Avery and Chirag Khurana. However only one Heyside batsman made it to double figures as they were all out in 27 overs for just 51 with 5 for Janith Liyange and 3 for Will Halton.

On Sunday, in a rearranged game, Woodbank bounced back from Saturday’s narrow defeat to pick up 6 points at home to Glodwick. Daniel Stock top scored with 63 for the visiting side in their 181 all out, Stephen Holt taking 3/24 in just 3.3 overs. Woodbank’s run chase was led by pro Imran Mirza (73*) and they reached the target with 3.1 overs remaining.

Adam Holt (Clifton) still leads the batting with 779 league runs @70.82 with Joe Smith-Butler now close behind on 610 @67.78. Steven Bliss (Roe Green) still leads the way in the bowling with 35 victims and now leads the averages with @ 14.60, Glodwick's Arkam Zeer is noe one behind on 34. In the MVP stakes it is Gareth Cross (Clifton) who moves further ahead on 186.05, 42 clear of Arkam Zeer.
