“Is your club open or made easily open in the day during the summer?

Would you like to raise the profile of your club in the local community?

Could your club benefit from having 16 volunteers spruce part of it up?

My name is Hayley Blundell, I am the Operations Manager for National Citizen Service (NCS) provided by Lancashire Cricket Foundation, and I think there is an opportunity for a mutually beneficial partnership between us and local cricket clubs in the North West!

NCS is a 4 week long youth empowerment programme that primarily runs in the summer months. Young people between the ages of 15-17 are eligible to come on and experience a week of out-door activities (residential), a week of developing life-skills such as cooking, public speaking, and critical thinking (residential) and 10 days non-residential volunteering within their local community completing a social action project that they have designed and fundraised for themselves with a team of 15 other young people on the programme.

We are currently looking for:

Clubhouses, near public transport links, which could be used during the day (Monday-Friday) for a group of 16 young people (plus adults) – maximum 7 hours per day

Social Action projects – something that either improves the physical appearance of your Club OR raises the profile of your Club in the community

If this is something that would interest you, please get in touch for more information!

Hayley Blundell”

ECB Clubmark is paused for 2020 and will be re-launched in 2021 purely by ECB with Sport England not involved - we are in consultation with ECB around what Clubmark should look like and they’re also keen to consult clubs but the scheme is likely to be less paperwork heavy and more outcome / benefit driven which we’ll all welcome.

In 2020 no Clubmark reaccreditations are required, neither are Annual Health Checks - any club that didn’t reaccredit last year by all means get in touch to discuss the best way forward for you but our advice in the main is to wait for the new scheme.

Shortly, the ECB will launch the a Safehands System (online) and updates have been circulated centrally by them and through me around what that looks like, all current Clubmark clubs will be required to do this in 2020 with other clubs to follow in 2021 and 2022. The scheme will be reviewed annually and is based around coaching qualifications, DBS checks, Safehands certificates, safeguarding certificates and first aid.
