WELCOME TO GMCL FOR YOUR MOBILE

Weekly Round-Up - Sunday

Our Sunday League competition is designed to be for those that dont play regularly on Saturdays, with restrictions in place through our Starred Player system whilst allowing juniors to play leading roles in the longer form of the game and develop their skills.

There are three sections to the Sunday competition. Firstly our competitive 4 divisions over three tiers - Premier, Division 1 and regionalised Divisions 2 which have promotion and relegation; then we have our 3 regionalised divisions for those wanting fewer Sunday games and local games and finally we have our Sunday Development league where there are further restrictions to ensure more juniors play.

Week 11
There were no games this weekend

Week 10

It's neck and neck at the top of the Central table with wins for both Flowery Field and Denton West who are now both 8 points clear of Woodhouses who were also winners at Denton to move up to 3rd.

West were very tidy with their bowling with Johnny Remers taking 3 for 10 and Dylan Madden 3 for 5 to restrict the visiors to just 91 but Whalley Range almost defended that but Hosh Beeby with a run per ball 42 in the middle of the innings go West into the box seat.  It was a close game at Flowery Field Green too with Stretford falling just four short. Sam Williams had opened and scored 66 but when he fell at 110 for 3 only Brendan Cain was able to stick around for 35. Cain also took 3 for 40 off 10 in the second innings where Pavail Aqeel top scored with 45 for Stretford, but ultimately 5 dots in the last over from Cain stopped Stretford from winning.

Woodhouses third string posted a respectable 223 for 5 with opener and innings anchor Ben Bate last man out for 88 from 145. Openers Oliver Smith and Phil Eaves put on an opening stand of 77 for Denton but then wickets tumbled too regularly for the visitors and they never got going again and fell 70 short.

At the end of the season there is no promotion or relegation in or out of this division. The division will be reformed geographically for the 2022 season dependent on the teams entering
