Interleague Triumphs!

13 Aug 2018

Both our senior and U18 Interleague sides posted fantastic wins this weekend......

Played at Moorside CC, the U18 representative team beat their equivalents from the Bolton League.

Batting first they posted 242 for 9 in 45 overs with top scorers being Sam Dorsey (Clifton CC) with 92 and Tom Heaton (Greenmount CC) with 57.

They then restricted the Bolton Leaguers to 180 all out with best bowling figures coming from Tom Heaton with 2 for 20 and Mohammed Ahmed (Clifton CC) with 2 for 38.

Well done lads!

Over at Padiham, our senior interleague team also won against the Ribblesdale League....

Despite the poor forecast and overnight rain the game went ahead on a bone dry wicket, every credit to the Padiham ground staff. The Ribblesdale League won the toss and elected to bat but were soon in trouble after some fine opening bowling from Cameron Smith and Guy Emmett. Emmett picking up the first three wickets fairly cheaply before Will Halton was brought into the attack alongside Nick Hardman. Between them they bowled The Ribblesdale League out for 85 with Halton picking up five wickets for very few runs.

In reply The GMCL made short work of achieving their target with Saif Bhojani and Gavin Nichol sharing an 80 run opening partnership before Bhojani was out just before Nichol finished of the game with a huge six.

There can be little doubt that the GMCL were the deserved winners of the Senior Inter League Competition having beaten the Northern League and Liverpool Competition on the way to the final.

Our thanks go to the organisers of the interleague teams, the players and the host venues for putting the games on.
