GMCL STATEMENT ON APPLICATIONS TO JOIN THE LEAGUE IN 2018
The Board of the Greater Manchester Cricket League is now able to confirm that we have been contacted by many clubs currently playing in the Pennine Cricket League to discuss their possible membership of GMCL for 2018. Members of our Board have met with a number of prospective member club committees at their request and have more meetings to attend this week.
To date, we have received formal applications from the following clubs:
Moorside CBC, Royton CC, Shaw CC, Monton CC, Heyside CC, Greenfield CC, Glodwick CC.
All those applications have been accepted by the Board and we look forward to the clubs enhancing our competition at Senior and Junior level from the start of the 2018 season.
We remain disappointed that there has been no discussion with Pennine League officials, it is still our wish for discussions to be held to ensure a smooth transition for all clubs and league officials that wish to join us.
Of course there is still time for other clubs to decide what they wish to do in 2018 and for any club still considering options we welcome requests for members of our board to speak to your club committee.
We can, at this time, reaffirm our commitment to the county board that we will welcome into the league any club that is left displaced or stranded by the movement of others.
