GMCL2021 GMCL20 Premier – Pool Games 28 Jun

28 Jun 2021

Update 28 June 2021

Pool 1 - one to qualify for the Quarter-Finals - DSL Saints qualify
in the only match played this week, DSL Saints beat rivals the Wildcats by 9 wickets in a low scoring game to become the first team to confirm their place in the Quarter Finals. The Falcons have a chance of the extra qualifying slot but they will have to beat the Saints to get there.
Pool 2 - two to qualify for the Quarter-Finals
Wins for The Heat, the Kingfishers and the WIldboyz sees them take the top three slots. Gareth Cross was top scorer of the week with 61* off 40 as Kingfishers won by 9 wickets but with 3 games to play this week the pressure is on the Wildboyz so the Heat and the Kingfishers remain favourites with the points on the board but there are a few games still to play in this division.
Pool 3 - two to qualify for the Quarter-Finals
Wins for Heyside and Moorside means they have pulled level with leaders Shaw to all share 9 points and it was Moorside who blew it wide open by bowling out Shaw for just 82 and it was Richard Harrington taking out 4 of Shaw's top 5 for just 7 runs that did the damage,  In the other game the Kings beat the Thunder by 8 wickets as Muhammad Mohsin and Daniel Stock both ended the game on 55 not out. 6 of the 7 teams in the division are now separated by just 3 points. there are 5 games still to be played.
Pool 4 - one to qualify for the Quarter-Finals
Just one game this week as the Bullets surprised top of the table Fury in a high scoring win by 18 runs with Tom Liversedge scoring 74 not out off 35 balls and Sam McDowell taking 5 for 26 to halt the Fury response. With 5 matches still to be played there is no clear favourite although Edgworth Fury do have have the points on the board.
Pool 5 - one to qualify for the Quarter-Finals
Roe Green stormed to a 10 wicket win in 6 overs to take top spot on NRR in the only game of the week, The Renegades and the Fire share the lead and look likely to take the top place but they meet each other next week in the last game of the round.

One extra team will qualify the highest point scorers/NRR between the 5 teams (2nd in Pools 1, 4 & 5 and 3rd in Pools 2 & 3)

Ryan Stanbury 44 off 30, Heat v Warriors 240621

Richard Harrington 4 for 7, Mavericks v Spartans 250621
