Representatives of the Bolton Cricket League (BCL) and Greater Manchester Cricket League (GMCL) met yesterday at Emirates Old Trafford to look to the future. John Murphy of the Lancashire Cricket Foundation (LCF) was in attendance.
GMCL will not accept any more applications for 2023 season to avoid further movement of clubs for the 2023 season.
The two leagues have agreed to give BCL time to explore options for 2024 for all their senior clubs and teams; it is anticipated that a resolution could be reached by September 2022.
The leagues have agreed to hold further talks, initially to work to ensure junior competition is improved for all clubs, more importantly for the youngsters in the two competitions and we will do so jointly, from August, looking to 2023 season.
Further meetings between the representatives of the two leagues will be arranged in the coming weeks.
